Children ages 3 to 5 and their parents or caregivers are invited to explore, play + grow! Focused on a variety of themes and installations, participants can enjoy story time and work on a collaborative hands-on project. Mini-Factory is a mobile, adaptable pop-up space students help to build and use to explore ideas inspired by Mattress Factory artists.

April 28, 2018: STORYTELLING

Inspired by MF Artist Charlie Jansen, Mini-Factory artists will make and use puppets to tell a story.


May 12, 2018: CONNECTIONS

Inspired by Rhizome, Alex Hibbit's ceramic piece, Mini artists will be assembling their own segmented sculptures that will grow as new connections are formed.


May 26, 2018: GLOW

Inspired by James Turrell, Mini artists will mix color by layering translucent shapes AND create art that glows under blacklight.


June 9, 2018: TOUCH
Inspired by Jene Highstein, Mini artists will use objects with varying textures to make art that's meant to be touched.


June 23, 2018: REACHING
Inspired by William Anastasi's blindfold drawing, Mini artists will make art that encourages them to think big and use their whole bodies.


July 14, 2018: TOGETHER
Inspired by Winnifred Lutz's garden installation, Mini artists will make art that requires them to collaborate with nature.


July 28, 2018: everyBODY
Inspired by Yayoi Kusama, Mini artists will use their bodies as a living canvas for shapes and colors. 


August 11, 2018: LISTEN
Inspired by Rolf Julius, Mini art sound artists will create sound sculptures that can be seen and heard. 


 August 25, 2018: RENEW
Inspired by Bill Woodrow, Mini artists will take apart take apart discarded objects to create something brand new.
